Reasons for Destructiveness in Children

Our children resort to damaging things and toys, and mothers usually get angry and flare up at them without understanding the reason behind it. There are several reasons that drive a child toward destructiveness, including:

1- Curiosity and the desire to explore things and discover how they are made.

2- Seeking attention in cases where parents are neglecting them.

3- Feeling frustrated as a result of their questions being ignored or being prevented from speaking.

4- Having excess energy without having activities to channel or release this energy.

5- It may be unintentional, resulting from a lack of cognitive or physical skills.

6- When feeling psychological distress or a sense of inferiority and injustice, they may resort to revenge and breaking whatever they can get their hands on as an unconscious reaction.
