Jealousy in Children

Sibling jealousy is one of the most bothersome problems, especially after the arrival of a second baby. The older child often resorts to certain actions that indicate feelings of jealousy, and it is the parents’ role to notice these behaviors to solve the problem early on. These actions include:

  • Screaming and destruction: The child resorts to outbursts, screaming, and sometimes destroying belongings that belong to their siblings.

  • Physical aggression: This appears through various behavioral forms such as hitting, pinching, pushing, and more.

  • Constantly causing chaos and mischief.

  • Excessive rebellion and refusal to follow orders.

  • Spying.

  • Tattling (instigating conflict).

  • Incitement.

  • Setting others up, especially after the age of ten.
