Fear of Bathing

The “bathing battle” often occurs between a mother and her child, and mothers usually do not understand why bathing feels like a war while trying to persuade their child. Because they don’t understand the reason, they cannot reach a solution. Therefore, here are some reasons why children are afraid of bathing:

  • Aquaphobia: Some children suffer from what is called aquaphobia (fear of water). This feeling may start from birth or as a result of a bad experience with water, such as choking, being scalded by hot water, or getting soap in their eyes.

  • Feeling cold after bathing: Simply put, some children hate bathing because they feel cold after a hot bath. Your child may be sensitive to temperature changes, which affects them significantly.

  • Fear of falling inside the bathroom: Some children are gripped by the fear of falling and getting injured. Your child may dread bathing due to the fear of experiencing such a situation during the process.
